OURO com OURO

Here I am again, drawn to textures and "architectural" lines...I love that there´s virtually no color in this look - very pale gold, very subdued blue, and black - and all the interest is in the very rich yet discret fabric textures and in the contrasting lines on the blouse, the clutch and the shoes! And I absolutely love wearing a statement necklace and a very long chain together.

I made the skirt (first seen here), gorgeous embroidered silk chiffon blouse by L'etage, beautiful filigree bracelet by BobStore, blue faux snake skin clutch and black and gold sandals by LeLisBlanc, and J.Crew necklaces.

REBECCA I
I find that some very simple things represent extreme luxury to me. Having time for the "dolce far niente", cuddle up with a good book on a lazy weekend, and the touch of certain fabrics against my skin... and somehow knits fall into this category, the extreme luxury. Maybe because for me they are easy pieces, easy to make, creative- the possibilities are infinite when knitting- comfortable and they have this boho folkish felling to them... I love knits in natural fibers paired with very delicate fabrics such as silks and velvets, and the idea of spending a day at home in a chiffon maxi dress snuggled in a cashmere knitted coat is paradise!
This is the first post of a series about the German magazine REBECCA. I like the sweaters, coats, wraps, skirts, dresses they publish - so check again soon for more ;)  Take a look at these pieces and let me know what you think!

I fell in love with this knit blouse the moment I saw it on display...It is pretty much a square of knit fabric folded in half with a hole for the neck, one for the waist and two for the arms, and I know that many people frown upon this shape, but I loved the blouse. It hits on the waist and I love these feather/wings prints on the back of a top, specially if there´s no hint of such a print when your are standing in front of someone, and then there´s all this beautiful movement when you walk away. I like the idea of a square top with a very fitted pencil skirt (and better yet if the skirt is in leather, which fits pretty well, but looks all soggy in the picture) that hits right on the knees, killer high heels, a very serious bag and loads of beads... and a fun fish pendant on a very long chain!

Leather skirt made by me, JohnJohn top, BobStore heels, Zara shopper, J.Crew star necklace and all other jewelry by Swarovski.

LIVROS, LIVROS e MAIS LIVROS

Some years back I saw Cirque du Soleil' s Ô show, and one performance gave me the goosebumps- well, more than the normal amount of goosebumps I get all the time when watching this amazing group : it was a guy making fire malabarism in complete dark and silence and then when he finishes he puts off the fire and screams with this agonizing voice in total blackness : "WHERE IS YOUR SOUL"? I cried...
What are we made of? Where does the stuff that makes us "us" come from? Where and when did my immense love and respect and compassion for all living things take its first steps? When did the magic of concocting sweets and breads and all things baked sweep me off my feet? Where, when and why?
Where was my passion for fashion and design and books and cinema and music and traveling and ART born? When did I learn that there are universes inside books? And that are even more universes to be explored on our amazing Earth? At what time did I realize that there are thousands of lives to be read, millions of works of art to be seen? When did I start fantasizing Paradise is some kind of library where I can spend eternity with all of the books on earth and my loved ones and all of the animals I have ever even encountered  in my life running around me in complete happiness and contentment?
Of course I remember my parents' and my grandma's influences, but did they teach me what to love? Did they put "it" there, or was "it" there? Did they just somehow stir what was already there, all things I was born with, my head, my heart, my soul???
I have no answer as to where and when and why, of course, and these answers are not important, but I can honestly say that after years and years of very painful soul checking and searching I know that what really matters is that these are some of the things that make me what I am, and because they are in me, they are comforting and make me happy, they are some of the wonderful places where my mind and heart are...
So guy with the fire, take a look, because some of my soul is right here (and honestly, this is what this blog is about, things I love and we are what we love):
